The Alberta Government (1981-present)

Background

The Alberta Government followed the lead of the Canadian government in 1981 by acquiring 1,000 grain cars lettered for the Alberta Heritage Fund. ALNX cars were assigned to Canadian National, and ALPX cars to Canadian Pacific. In the early 1990s they began to have their cars repainted into the Alberta billboard scheme, with most cars having lettering for various Alberta towns added. Reporting marks added 1/1981.
