CGTX 1001 series |
CGTX's 1000 series consisted of a mixture of 10,000 and 12,000 gallon tank cars, and were a mixture of new and used cars acquired from 1932 to 1952. The first series arrived in 3/1932 lettered for the Canadian Tank Car Co. with CATX reporting marks. By 5/1932 the company name had been changed, although cars with CATX reporting marks continued to be listed through the 7/1933 ORER (by 7/1934 the CATX reporting mark was gone). Two additional series arrived from CC&F: 1026-1050 in 8/1932 (although ORERs would not report these cars until 7/1934), and 1051-1100 in 9/1942, for a total of 100 cars. It also appears that cars 1111-1160 were also constructed new in 1942, which would bring the total to 150 cars. In 1942, used cars began to be acquired as part of this group with the arrival of 1101-1110. This particular series had a short life on CGTX, disappearing from the roster during 1947-48.
