Quebec Railway Light & Power (1899-1951) |
BackgroundThe QL&P was formed in 1899 with the renaming of the Quebec, Montmorency and Charlevoix Railway Co. (the Montmorency Division), and the addition of the Quebec District Railway (the Citadel Division). In 1929 Canadian National leased the line between Cap Tourmente and St. Joachim, and acquired joint use at St. Joachim terminus for 15 years. In 1947, the line between Cap Tourmente and St. Joachim was purchased by CN, followed by CN's authorization to purchase the entire QL&P in 1951.
